The Northeast Iowa Peace and Justice Center encourages the use of mediation as a way of cooperative conflict resolution.
Mediation involves two or more parties in conflict, plus a neutral mediator who facilitates the conversation and encourages solutions. Mediation is voluntary, confidential, and economical; the mediator does not make the decision, and does not offer legal advice.
NEIPJC believes that mediation should be available to all people in the community regardless of their ability to pay, and makes provisions to make mediation accessible to all. We are grateful to First United Methodist Church in Decorah for start-up funding for mediation services. NEIPJC provides a list of local mediators and their contact information. Potential clients should contact one of the mediators for more information.
