In the PJC’s role as helper, it responds to needs for community interaction.
Examples include serving as an Experience Works site for persons aged 55 and older to help increase their skills for return to full employment.
The center also serves as an option for court-ordered community service hours and are affiliated with other peace and justice organizations, such as the National Coalition to Protect Civic Freedoms.
If an individual wants to start a civic group, or a group needs help getting going; the PJC can help with that through guidance and assistance with networking and advertising.
In addition, the Center sponsors a spring litter cleanup in conjunction with Earth Day, is an organizing site for NAMI NE Iowa (National Alliance on Mental Illness), partners with the Winneshiek Energy District for many programs, , supervises numerous Luther College interns, helps with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and more.
